Summer Horse Camp
Oh to be a child on
a farm in Summer! A safe and relaxed life experience for boys
and girls aged 7 to 12 years old.
Since 2008 MLF has been a summer oasis for kids yearning to ride and be with horses. Camp runs from 9am to 2pm (M-F) and costs $350 per week.
2017 Summer Camp Schedule
Monday through Friday 9am - 2pm
Our focus is on safety and fun, allowing the kids to progress at their own comfort level. They learn everything from haltering and leading, grooming and tacking up. Lesson groups are small with lots of individual attention while including fun activities such as games, barrels, pole bending and gymkhana. We start out riding Western for beginners but also teach English and bareback. Weather permitting, we end our lesson with a trail ride to practice our skills in the open.
At the end of the week, each camper presents a performance on horseback for their parents/grandparents/siblings. They choose the music and the routine to perform, showcasing what they have learned.
Our day begins at 9am with the morning spent in the barnyard grooming, tacking up horses and a lesson in the arena.
A leisurely ride out on the trails follows the lesson to cool out the horses and practice the skills learned.
With a break for lunch, the kids then have a choice of participating in horse-related crafts, farm chores or playing with the animals until pick-up at 2pm.
Kids bring their own lunch Monday - Thursday. Friday is Pizza Party Day.
Appropriate, hard-soled shoes or boots and long pants are required. We have some helmets available to borrow but suggest campers purchase their own, well-fitting helmets.
